I don’t know all the details of your situation but if your wife doesn’t want a divorce, she can’t legally stop you from getting one. You can file and eventually it will happen whether she agrees or not. It might take longer and cost more if she contests it, but you will get your divorce if that’s really what you want.
That said, have you asked her why she’s refusing? Is it because she still loves you and thinks things can be fixed? Is it about money or kids? Is she afraid of being alone? Understanding her reasons might help you figure out how to handle the situation. If there’s something you can work through, maybe couples counseling would help. But if you’re done, you’re done.
If there are kids involved, this is going to be harder no matter what. But staying in a marriage you don’t want to be in just because your wife won’t sign papers isn’t fair to anyone. Kids know when their parents aren’t happy together. They’re not getting a good example of what marriage should look like.
Get a lawyer and figure out what your options are. Every state is different with divorce laws so you need someone who knows what they’re doing. And try to keep things as civil as possible because the more you guys fight, the more expensive and painful it gets. But don’t stay trapped in a marriage you don’t want just because she’s digging her heels in.
