And that’s completely fine. Marriage isn’t for everyone and it’s definitely not required for a happy, fulfilling life. If you’ve been married before and it didn’t work out, there’s no rule that says you have to try again. You get to decide what works for you.
Society puts way too much pressure on people, especially women, to get married. Like your life is somehow incomplete without a ring on your finger. That’s nonsense. Some of the happiest people I know are single and loving it. They have friends, family, careers, hobbies, and peace. That’s a full life.
If you’re in a relationship now and your partner wants to get married but you don’t, you need to be honest about that. Don’t lead someone on if you know you’re never going to want what they want. That’s not fair to either of you. Maybe you can find a middle ground like a commitment ceremony or just staying as you are, but don’t fake it.
Live your life on your own terms. If someone has a problem with your choices, that’s their problem, not yours. You’ve probably learned a lot from your past experiences and you’re making a decision based on what you know about yourself. That’s actually really mature, not something to be ashamed of.
